Undying Light is a show hosted by Alex a Lutheran Preacher in Iowa. I cover a broad range of topics from discussions on theology, apologetics, to essentially everything to do with the Bible, cultural issues, and everyday ranting about the state of Evangelicalism in the United States and everywhere else. I am committed to an inerrant, infallible view of the Scriptures. Therefore, I am fervent to bring everything I teach and say to the light of the Biblical worldview. I hope this is a blessing ...

1/21/2022 - Genesis Bible Study led by Pastor Ernie Jeong. 5 The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. 7 So the Lord said, “I will blot out man whom I hav…

In our baptism, God has joined us to all of humanity. But he has also initiated us, through our baptism, into a NEW humanity. Our call, as baptized people of God, is to MANIFEST to others the new humanity that we know in Jesus-- to make this way of life known, so that ALL people might be drawn into the life of forgiveness and radical love that God …

Jesus was sent to “preach the good news of the kingdom of God” (Luke 4:43). His preaching is an epiphany, or manifestation, of God because His Word reveals the authority of His cross and resurrection, by which He has atoned for the sins of the world. By the preaching of His Gospel in every place, He silences the unclean spirits and casts out demons…

Pastor Jeske launches a new message series on “Epiphany Signs and Wonders”. Today’s study “#1: Jesus' power over nature” dives into Joshua 10:1-14 and Mark 4:35-41 where accounts are given when God displays His power over nature. In Mark’s gospel, the disciples are on a journey toward faith. We, as Mark’s readers, not only are watching this journey…

This week we'll be studying Mark 2:18-2 under the theme of "New Wineskins." Jesus continues to explain to the Pharisees why his gospel ministry CANNOT be patched onto their ministry of self-righteousness. And he uses some really helpful analogies about bridegrooms, clothing patches, and new wineskins in which he embeds some timeless wisdom. We'll l…

Do you know the name Nicodemus? I want to introduce him to you. John does too. He's an important character in John's gospel- he appears there three times, and yet he doesn't appear at all in Matthew, Mark, or Luke's gospel. Why? We gotta remember that John is writing his book at a much later date. He's looking out at young Christians, he's seeing t…

People HUNGER in their heart of hearts for a story to which they can belong. That shapes and directs them toward an ultimate purpose. That gives meaning and purpose to their everyday lives, and helps to sustain them in their suffering and put it their lives in a larger, cosmic context. Such a story is PRECISELY the gift that we have been given as C…

Our lives are shaped by conflict: we fight with our families and friends, we struggle to get along with difficult coworkers, and we feel the strain of division and disagreement in our churches. Some enjoy conflict and others try to avoid it at all costs. What are some Biblical ways to address inevitable conflict in our lives? Let’s discover togethe…

Because we can never fully know all things, we live much of our lives based on assumptions about many things, including God. But if our God-assumptions are false, they can hold us back from fully living in God’s kingdom and lead us to oppose God and what he is doing in the world. It is through repenting of our false beliefs and believing the new tr…

When Jesus opens His mouth to preach, gracious words flow from His lips. The Scriptures are, indeed, fulfilled in your hearing (Luke 4:21–22). For Christ was anointed by the Spirit of the Lord “to proclaim good news to the poor,” “to proclaim liberty to the captives,” and “to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor” (Luke 4:18–19). By this proclamati…

Pastor Jeske’s bible study is on Exodus 1:6-22: “Fight Dehumanization!”. Some of the Israelites were put to work in the fields, while many others were assigned construction projects. As their numbers continued …

This week we'll be studying Mark 2:13-17 under the theme of "Jesus is TOO GOOD for None and All." This text briefly covers the calling of Matthew, the tax collector, to become one of Jesus' disciples. The text also shares how the self-righteous Jewish religious leaders reacted to such a selection. Finally, Jesus explains that sin functions like a s…

This Sunday we get to take in a well known account. It's the account where Jesus turns water into wine. Except, there’s a much bigger picture here. And you can see it in the countdown in John 2:1. Or I suppose it’s a count-up. Because this is the only time in John’s Gospel where he counts up to anything. This indicates to you that the thing that’s …
