With the lockdowns and added stress of the pandemic, it’s no wonder that alcohol intake has increased. Does this mean that alcoholism has increased or are we dealing with the ramifications of a very destructive coping mechanism?
Angela Mascenik joins me to chat about her journey and why it is rarely about the alcohol itself and all about why you’re drinking instead. For many of us, drinking begins at a much earlier age than is recommended or legal.
Our public school systems, diet changes, and increased childhood pressures are likely to blame, but what do we do when drinking becomes our main coping mechanism? For many, this spells a recipe for disaster and addiction.
For Angela it spelled the same. She decided to bring on a coach to help her get to the bottom of her drinking habits and hasn’t looked back since. Now she’s dedicated to helping others figure out why they drink and if they choose, ways to kick the habit to the curb.
It’s funny because we all know how much we can drink and still live a fully healthy life, but so few of us pay any mind to that. We keep on imbibing and keep on giving ourselves excuses for why. But once you get to the bottom of your drinking habit, you may find that you no longer need it.
