Fredrik Erixon talks to Anu Bradford, Henry L. Moses Professor of Law and International Organization at Columbia Law School, about her new book “The Brussels Effect: How the European Union Rules the World“.

The Brussels Effect was first defined by Professor Bradford as “the unprecedented and deeply underestimated global power that the European Union is exercising through its legal institutions and standards”. In this episode, we explore the exact nature and limitations of this power. In which areas can we observe the Brussels effect? Why don’t we observe a Beijing or Washington effect to the same extent? What are the implications for future EU-UK relations?
