NRL coach Ricky Stuart has landed himself in some hot water.
Speaking to media, he said if he couldn't have tough conversations with his players, he may as well coach netball.
He's now apologised, but gave one more parting jab, telling the Australian netball community that any publicity for them is good.
Former Silver Fern Adine Wilson told Heather du Plessis-Allan that his comments are ill-informed and naive.
"Our sport actually has microphones listening to quarter breaks when coaches are talking to their players. That is honest feedback they are giving."
However, she agrees that Australian netball players do struggle for media attention, unlike in New Zealand.
