The IOC has had a second video call with Chinese tennis player Peng Shuai.
IOC President Thomas Bach says that Peng has reconfirmed that she is safe and well, despite the “difficult situation” she is in.
However, the IOC isn't releasing the transcript of the conversation.
Sydney Morning Herald North Asia correspondent Eryk Bagshaw told Heather du Plessis-Allan it’s a very tricky situation with the Winter Olympics due to be held in Beijing in two months’ time.
“The IOC says it’s exercising quiet diplomacy, but the reality is, I think few people in the tennis world are going to be satisfied until the tennis association that she plays for is actually able to speak with her.”
