#HERSTORYMovement Today's episode is in partnership with The HBCU Experience: The HBCU Southern University System Edition. Ayanna Spivey was born in the shadow of Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. She was raised in Moreno Valley, CA. She explored skills while in high school, lettering in 3 sports, active in the Associated Student Body, the Black Student Union, and becoming the Southern California Regional President of Black Student Unions. These experiences laid the foundation for her time at Southern University and the beginning of her career in higher education through various positions in the Student Government Association, Miss Sophomore, and then Miss Southern on the Royal Court. In 2016 she launched We Are Educated, LLC.--an organization that strives to promote higher learning at HBCUs and inspire academic excellence through college preparation. #HERstory is meant to be heard!
