What are your thoughts on booth rental? For many employees renting a booth or room is the dream. You're tired of being paid commission or hourly and renting a room from a salon owner means you get to be your own boss. I know many of you listening to this podcast hope to one day have your own space and most likely you'll start renting a room from someone else. Booth rental for employers can be a nightmare...if you run a team-based salon (commission, hourly, team-base pay) then you probably hate booth rentals and feel like they are your biggest enemy (along with salon suites). So for one group the words "booth rental" brings joy and for another group it brings dread. With that said, we sit down with Christine Petrun of Eyelandlash and talk about what it's been like since her salon switched to booth rental. For Christine, it's been a wonderful experience and she shares how it's been for her this last year. We also go into the benefits of Groupon which I know many of you don't think the words "benefit" and "Groupon" should go in the same sentence. Hopefully, when you are done with this episode, you'll have a more open mind towards discount sites like Groupon. We think the world of Christine and we think you will too when this episode is over. ANNOUNCEMENTS: YOU NEED TO ENTER THE FIRST ANNUAL "LASHIES" There are two divisions to choose from: SOLO LASH ARTIST AND LASH SALON OWNER. In each division, there are five categories: Overcoming Story, Customer Service, Client Retention and Referral Program, Technology, and Salon Design. Each category essay will be rated by multiple anonymous judges. If your essay scores at the top of its category, you will receive a Lashies Award. There can and most likely be more than one winner in each category. For example, we don’t believe there is just one person who is best at “customer service”. Instead, we believe that many business owners can demonstrate excellence in any of our five categories. The application fee is $50. Winners will be announced on September 27, 2021. We will host the first annual Lashies on Sunday night November 7, 2021, at the LASHCONference.
