Sign up for her free email course – https://www.counselingrecovery.com/fr… Anger is such an important part of recovery because without it we are stuck. It is only when we finally get mad do, we gain internal strength to get out of an abusive relationship, romantic, siblings, or parents. Without anger we would never give up trying to make it something it can never be. We are all remarkably similar personality types, the giving kind, the nurturer, the peacekeeper, the scapegoat fixer always trying to avoid conflict. The narcissist knows expressing anger is hard for you, so in many ways they push your buttons to bring you to anger. Then they get supply because they know they have broken you. They want to control how you feel. By learning to control the anger we are not condoning or allowing what they did to be okay, we are simply learning to process the anger for us. If you hold onto the anger, the poison worked and they win. Did you know anger is a secondary emotional experience? It is secondary in that it is usually a reaction to a more fundamental emotional experience. Anger is a strategy for dealing with this more fundamental experience. Example: anger is a reaction to a frustration, common ones are not being heard, not being treated fairly, not being able to have feelings or opinions. Them always needing to be right. Or them committing a perceived harm to you. Make sense? Hi! My Name is Tracy A. Malone, founder of Narcissist Abuse Support and I’m here to help! 🙂
