-------- Welcome back to the Ten Thousand Posts Movie Club! Sit back and relax, and remember, if you insist on filming the screen with your phone, *at least* set it to 180px. We're joined by Sophie (@Theymersophie), host of the Youtube channel Curio, and can also be found on the table-top podcasts Rolling With Rainbows and Dice Funk, to talk about the second installment of the Matrix trilogy: The Matrix Reloaded. Released in 2003, the Matrix Reloaded had received mixed reviews - with most saying that its storyline was too complex and convoluted. It was mocked by Justin Timberlake and Will Ferrell at the MTV movie awards, and generally was seen as being unable to live up to the reputation of the first. But, in a recent video essay, Sophie and Sarah Zedig argue that not only is this criticism unfair - but the sequels are actually, good!
In this episode, we talk about what the Wachowskis were trying to explore in the sequel movies, how Reloaded in particular is a much better exploration of posting and the dynamics of posting than the first, as well as the overt Transness of the franchise. Plus, we talk about Neo as a poster, Agent Smith as a reply guy, and how we would all actually love to live in a gooey pod.
