Today, I am blessed to have here with me a nutritionist specializing in the ketogenic diet and exercise physiology, Maria Emmerich. She is the author of several cookbooks and three nutritional guidebooks, including the bestseller “Keto: The Complete Guide to Success on The Ketogenic Diet.”

Maria’s blog, mariamindbodyhealth.com, offers innovative recipes and easy-to-understand explanations of how our bodies work and the science of ketogenic lifestyles. She also runs a support site for getting all your questions answered: Keto-Adapted.com.

Maria’s success stems from her passion for helping others reach and sustain optimal health through programs and education that work on a personal level. She understands the connection between food and how it makes us all feel inside and out. After struggling with her weight throughout her childhood, she decided to study health and wellness so she could help others who are discouraged by their appearance and do not feel their best.

The nutrient-rich, relatively high-fat dietary approach that she developed for herself and the exotic, little-known replacements for typical high-glycemic starchy foods and sugar are what finally gave her total peace with food, something she never imagined possible.

Maria and her husband Craig adopted two boys (Micah and Kai) from Ethiopia. They have raised a keto family for over 7 years showing how this lifestyle can be great for the whole family.

In this episode, Maria Emmerich dives into her story and why she started living a ketogenic lifestyle. Plus, Maria reveals the inspiration behind her viral keto cookbooks, which, by the way, Halle Berry follows her work! Maria speaks about how the carnivore diet has helped her husband with his Lyme disease. Tune in as we talk about oxidative priority, and Maria reveals her favorite protein sources.
