Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can be hard to treat and in this podcast episode, I will be sharing with you one of the most effective treatments which I used to help me to heal.
In the 1920’s, Albert Einstein proved to us that everything (including our bodies) is comprised of energy. Emotional Freedom Therapy (EFT) is a scientifically proven technique which can release any ‘blockages’ in our bodily energy and these blockages can be the source of emotional intensity and discomfort.
Research that has also shown that after 6 sessions, 86% of sufferers in one study reported a dramatic and permanent reduction of their PTSD symptoms. EFT involves a sequence of repetitive tapping on acupuncture points whilst you repeat an activating phrase, which is based on cognitive behaviour therapy.
EFT addresses the fear associated behind the patients’ physical symptoms and is a form of ‘psychological acupressure’ to clear the emotional block and uses simple tapping techniques to input kinetic energy onto specific points on the body as you think about any negative trauma and at the same time, voice positive affirmations.
After tapping, you still have the emotion, but this emotion doesn’t own you. It’s not overwhelming. It’s just a memory. This is very similar to the outcome of EMDR.
