Trauma is not just a historical event that happened in the past, it is actually the residue from the past as it settles into your body and is located inside our own skin.
Being traumatized is when we become afraid of our physical sensations and our breathing becomes shallow, we become uptight and frightened about what we are feeling inside.
In this podcast episode, I will discuss how yoga can be used as a powerful element in healing trauma.
Yoga helps us to slow down our breathing and reduces stress. It re-activates our self-awareness and the areas that get locked out by the trauma and which are needed in order to heal. Yoga opens us up to feeling every aspect of our body’s sensation, it is a beautiful way for us to befriend our body, including the place where the trauma of the past may have been stored.
