You don't have to use the number on the scale as your measurement for your weight loss goals. There's tons of other ways you can measure your progress. But if you want to use the number on the scale as your measurement, it's important to shift the way you see that number. You want to step on the scale, see the number, and use that number to fuel you towards your goal - instead of take you in the opposite direction away from your goal.
